Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 7, 2026.
GoingBoard is built to be played without an account and without sharing personal information. This page explains, in plain language, what we store and why. It is a general overview, not legal advice.
What we store
- An anonymous session id. A random identifier kept in your browser's local storage so your games have continuity. It is not linked to your name or email.
- Game data. If a database is connected, completed games (moves, result, and an SGF record) may be stored to power features and aggregate statistics.
- Anonymous usage events. Basic, non-identifying analytics (for example, “a game was started”) to understand how the site is used.
- Feedback you choose to send. If you submit feedback, we store your message and an email address only if you provide one.
What we don't do
- We don't require an account or collect names.
- We don't sell personal data.
- We don't use intrusive third-party tracking in the core experience.
Local storage & cookies
We use your browser's local storage for the anonymous session id and to remember game preferences. We do not use advertising cookies today. If advertising is added in the future, this page will be updated and any required consent will be requested.
Advertising (future)
GoingBoard may show advertising in the future. Ads would be placed in calm areas of the page, never on or beside the board or game controls. Any third-party ad provider would be disclosed here.
